So I went home yesterday to see the Boro match. Turns out it was a waste of time and money, but that's a different story!

Anyway, my train home was at 9.26am and I planned to get the bus. Typically, I left my house only to see the bus drive past up the road, with the next one due in 10 minutes. That was cutting it a little fine so I rang a taxi.

It was to pick me up near the bus stop and I explained I needed to catch a train.

Fast forward to 9.20 and the taxi still isn't there. I've already watched two or three buses go past and I've basically missed my train. Another bus appears up the road so I decide to get the later train, cancel my taxi and just get on the bus.

I ring up to cancel the taxi and explain the situation and apologise. The operator says "he's there now" and I explained I couldn't see him. Then sure enough just as I hang up the phone, the bus pulls up and the taxi turns up on the other side of the road. I'm waiting to get on the bus behind a few people and the taxi driver over the road has his window down and shouts "cheers mate! We'll fucking blank you next time!".

I shrug and shout "you were late" and get on the bus.

I understand why he'd be upset, but I'm not paying £10 for a taxi when the bus is £2.20 if the taxi is too late to be worth the extra cost. Plus I cancelled the taxi - albeit at a coincidentally shit stage.

So... Would you complain about the driver? I've got the reg number of the car because the taxi firm is one of those ones who text you the taxi details. I always use that firm and I'd rather not have them "blanking" me in future. Plus he made me look a right tit in front of a bus stop full of people.

The taxi firm are unlikely to give a shit, but if you want to use that firm again, phone them up and explain why, sure.

Don't worry about it, taxi drivers are all miserable cunts anyway.

They're all cunts.

I needed a taxi into work for my early shift, called the same company I'd been using for years from my mobile number (Dragon in Cardiff) and they wouldn't come and get me from Caerphilly. I asked why, given they had no problem dropping me off at my home address in the past, and that as soon as the driver was finished he'd be in the middle of Cardiff ready for his next one... but no, sorry. Fuck off then.

Back in the day, if I thought there would be a likelihood if needing to miss a cab I'd book under an assumed name to avoid getting blocked. Caller display doesn't help this now, mind.

We use this set of wankers at work for all our cabs, supposed to be a “Corporate” service.
Most of their drivers are just temporary guys who come for a bit of work, so you always get pissed around when you least want it (when I arrive back at Heathrow) the drivers don’t know where to go to meet you and are late.

I pay for mine on a company credit card that’s registered with the taxi firm, so when they drop me home I ask for a receipt, again half of the drivers don’t even know what the cost is, then I get a receipt from them and its doesn’t tally up with the amount on our online expense system as the wanker forgot to add the car park charge. These days I just keep a load of blank receipt and write my own.

Once a couple of years ago I had a taxi booked on a Sunday (with 10 days’ notice) they called me 2 hours before and said they would be 2 hours late, I just caught my plane.

I used Premier afterwards, they seemed a bit better. I don't know how any of the taxis up in Caerphilly got through their MOTs.

We rang for a taxi at midnight on saturday night. "10-15 minutes" we were told. Half an hour later they weren't answering the phone and there was no sign, so we grabbed a black cab that happened by because it was nearly 1am and it was cold and we were tired. Five minutes later, they rang, presumably having finally got to where we'd been.

They rang Helen's phone at 4.15 in the morning, the horrible cunts.

I drove a taxi for a bit when I was younger. If you think as a general rule that taxi drivers are cunts then try taxi passengers. Utter fucking drunk bastard lowlifes the lot of them. :DD

The hackney driver was ace, he was bouncing off the limiter the whole way. I have a vague memory of saying something like "I like the way you drive a cab, sir" as I gave him a nearly-3-quid tip and pretty much fell out of it.
