Time Team is on youtube now, and has a new set of presenters (with lots of old faces from channel 4, thrown in as well)

Over the weekend they put out a 3 parter, where they looked at some UK civil war stuff in Modbury ( a village about 10k away from where I live) which I enjoyed.

We used to watch Time Team but Tony Robinson's presentation style gradually began to irritate me until I couldn't bear it.

Tony doesn't present on the linked video(s) although he does do a bit of Voice over work at the end

Am really enjoying this channel. It's called The Rest is Entertainment and it's Richard Osman and Marina Hyde talking about a lot of behind the scenes stuff to do with TV, film, sport and games. It's really interesting and they're both good on it.

Regarding all the aircraft stuff above.

If you go to to 9m 50s on this video, you'll see a Jet2 flight coming in, getting shaken up by crosswinds and aborting the landing. It was a flight from Lapland in Jan 2019 and while the video doesn't exactly do it justice, it was TERRIFYING. It was the last time I flew and the reason I didn't bother getting a new passport.

Here is an other angle of it. You can see a bit more of a rotation on this one. Pretty much the moment the pilot said 'nope.'

Again, it doesn't really do the moment justice (at the time I figured I had a 1 in 3 chance of dying and everyone on the plane was freaked out, including the cabin crew from what I could tell) but yeah I'm just not keen on getting on a plane again for the foreseeable.

I'd seen the show in the trending list and idly wondered what it was (but also assumed it was pap), and the first few minutes of that reassure me I was right. Wow!

Also: how typical is the ad saturation in that YouTube video? Pretty much unwatchable (though I would just download it if I wanted to see more).

Interesting that MrBeast('s marketing team) has replied to that video personally and seems to agree with him

Whilst saying in the same comment that, for season 2 (!), he will try and eliminate people quicker, thus showing that they didn't understand the criticisms at all.

I find ads on YouTube very inconsistent. Some days/sessions I'll get loads throughout the first video then nothing for the next couple, other times it's one long one then several small ones.

Some creators are better at placing breaks but most seem to just let The Algorithm dump them whereever.

Not annoying enough yet to give up on the platform or (horror) pay, but still frustrating.

As for downloads, cheers for the reminder:I need to check if I'm running them most recent version of yt-dlp as it wasn't working for me at the weekend when I ("needed an offline version of a video in case of network issues" -Ed.)
