Put the tower fan on in the bedroom as it’s 25° at 12:30am, and the movement of un-cooled air over me makes me feel like a chicken in a fan-assisted oven.

Getting to sleep when it's really hot, and you're already bothered by it, is really hard. If the outside air is still it's very hard to ventilate the house.

When it got really hot and before we had A/C, I'd take a cold shower and not dry fully, then stand under a fan (we had ceiling fans at the time).

I spent the day moving rubbish from the garage into a skip. When I went into the kitchen it felt *cold* - but the heating informed me it was 25C in there at the time.

But sure, yay, enjoy the lovely sunny hot weather everyone, this is totally normal and to be celebrated!

Definitely not celebrating it here. It was 44.5°c in my work kitchen on Thursday. I work from home on Fridays so I have no idea how bad it might have got then (and I left a cold menu already prepped).

I’m also:
[*]Perimenopausal
[*]On meds that stop me from regulating my temperature properly, and
[*]Have a medical condition that stops my body being able to regulate its temperature properly.

Also, all my crops have died and blah.

I did a spot of gardening work for someone and collected four large boxes of FREE dance records this morning. I’m fucking melting now…

I went into Birmingham to meet friends for a couple of drinks and decided to go by motorbike instead of car.
It's an air cooled engine, so was fine when moving, but each time I had to stop in traffic or at the lights, my legs were burning up.

Now back home with the aircon on.

Oof, that's hot. Sorry your crops aren't doing well :( We're having trouble with the minimal amount we did plant too, having to have jobs that pay for life gets in the way.

Driving through stourport to the tip and back, busy and horrific as usual for a sunny day, as if this isn't unusual and dangerous.

The field the other side of the boundary with us was harvested this morning. Lovely dry wheat. Chaff everywhere. No fires thankfully. Hopefully the residual straw carries that on.

Grey and cloudy today and it's the first day of my week off and I can't even be mad at it. It'll be nice to be able to sleep tonight.

We have no roof on our garage, for probably a couple of weeks. It is therefore guaranteed to piss down constantly, and with the clouds and wind is clearly already moving in that direction.

I keep on looking at my various weather apps throughout the day as the promising rain symbol moves further and further along the hour-by-hour line :(

Don't worry, the kids will be breaking up this weekend so the weather is guaranteed to take a turn for the worse.

This swift appeared on the ground on our patio last week, apparently unhurt and flapping around but unable to take off. When approached, it went completely still after shuffling itself over to the wall in an attempt not to draw attention to itself. I managed to put it in a cardboard box to stop our dogs or any local cats giving it a scare, and looked up our local swift rescue contact, who's on the other side of Manchester from us, in Bolton. She checked that I hadn't tried to launch it into the air, feed it or give it anything to drink. I'd read the guidance about what to do if you find a grounded swift before calling her, but she asked for a photo, to ensure it wasn't a house martin, even though I was certain that it was a swift.

I drove over to her place and found that she'd converted her spare bedroom as a swift treatment room. She had about half a dozen that had been brought to her recently and said that mine was only a couple of weeks old and had probably tried to fledge too early, but on examination found that it was in good condition, so just needed looking after for a couple of weeks, when it could be released.

Aw that's a nice story. Will she let you know how the little swift progresses? Really hoping for a nice ending to that part.
