Delicious and not unusual at all, called a 'Mix' around these parts.

Chips with chip shop curry sauce on, and then ketchup squirted on top of the curry sauce. Heaven.

You've just reminded me of my three favourite foods from uni, in worsening order:

* Tomato Garlic Bread with Cheese. A normal Margarita pizza was like £3.50 at the local pizza place, but Tomato Garlic Bread with Cheese (which is basically the exact same thing)? £2.50. Boom! Economics!

* Chips with cheese and gravy from the Union Cafe. It was open as long as the night club was open. You want Chips, Cheese and Gravy at 2am? Sure!

* "London" Pizza. This was a treat that I've not seen outside of Middlesbrough, at least not under the same name. It consists of a large cheese pizza with added special topping of.... chips and garlic sauce. Fucking loved it.

Pizza with chips and garlic sauce sounds ace. I've had pizza chips and gravy before, surprisingly works.

Campbell's meatballs and fusilli. Food of warriors.

I feel Craster should be mentioning his microwave haggis.

Can't get that beautiful thick curry sauce from shops out here, but I loved that. Chips & gravy is good, but chips and curry is pro.

A good friend used to get chips in pitta, with mayo on top, from the local kebab shop. Fucking mayo! on chips! We aren't friends any more.

Quite right. Mayonnaise is for posh twats. Chips with Heinz Salad Cream is the way to go.

Flashback food dirt: School dinner of Ravioli & chips all covered in Salad cream... heaven.

Oh and a Rum & Raisin choc ice for pud.

Warhead's many (many (many)) years of experience make this the only sane voice.

And mine, because Salad Cream is great with chips.

I love salad cream with chips. Greasy, cheap, anaemic chip shop cheeseburger, with salad cream in it, and salad cream on the side for the chips. Heaven.

My brother in law has salad cream on a roast dinner, which is a step too far.

Salad cream on anything starchy is glorious.

I took Bean out bowling last week for half term. There was a special deal at our local bowling alley for half term where you got a game of bowling, plus a veggie/meat/cheese/chicken burger and chips for however much money.

So we go along and wait for our lane. It’s running late anyway as there is a community group there with 10 people and their carers all taking turns to bowl in teams. It’s all good. The lane is running late, no problems.

So I went up to the counter and asked about the food. Was it after the game, did we come to the counter, etc.

No, she said, they bring it to you at the lane.

(Huh?!)

So about five minutes after the lane becomes free and we start our game, someone comes over with two red plastic baskets of chips and our chosen burger varieties.

And I asked for a knife and fork, but they say they don’t have them, it’s to eat with your fingers.

… The fingers that are going into the sweaty bowling ball holes that untold numbers of strangers have also been putting their fingers into.

Does this strike anyone else as massively gross and risky, or does everyone have a far superior immune system to mine?

I had a wooden knife and fork and ate with a combination of those and a napkin, but yikes.

The bowling alley near us is the same. It's all just a bit grimy.

The bowling alley itself is new (ish, a couple of years old) but yeah, the idea was off-putting.

A bit late to the party, but Dairylea don't make triangles, they make segments.

Eat with your non bowling hand. Easy.

As for food dirt, there’s a great new addition in our freezer. Icelands Cheesy Hash Browns… delicious.

Cut hands out of the equation entirely and just lean down and eat straight from the plate.

Obviously I meant you need two hands to pick the balls up from the centre return thing to carry them to your Kane and put them on the bowling ramp

I have done, though, sometimes.

But yeah, I can’t pick up the 8lb balls one-handed.

You might be able to if you eat all your burger and chips first.

Nutella (well, the supermarket own brand equivalent) on rich tea biscuits is current popular in my house. It's not that dirty but it's very messy with my kids.



Noted, and while I don't disagree, I think it says triangles on the packaging so I'll stick with that for consistency and clarity over pedantry.

I will add that the burger-cheese slices, particularly the orange-y coloured ones (individually plastic wrapped) are another snack I really enjoy lately. Eating them by themselves is good, but in a hot chip butty is delicious.

Lovers of Dairylea triangles are encouraged to try the M&S version, they're huge and taste maybe a little better?

Also they're £3.50 but that's what happens when you make the undisputed king of the genre.

I have a really nice memory of Grim… shoving a Dairylea triangle in my face at the cottage not long after the first (or second?) time I met him. Hello, *hug*, here’s a Dairylea triangle.

Also one of my favourite ’hanging around the fridge’ snacks. Good for eating whilst trying to decide what to eat.

While a segment is each of the parts into which something is or may be divided, geometrically that doesn't describe the shape of a Dairylea portion. I stand corrected.

(But it's still not a triangle.)

Today’s lunch was a left-over-from-last-nights-chippy chip butty with salad cream.

Is it still a sector though with it being a section of a cylinder and not circle? Obv it’s a segment in terms of spheres, as the Terrys Chocolate Orange teaches us.

It's an interesting point. And if a segment is each of the parts into which something is or may be divided, a square cake cut into equally sized slices, or cut into quarters diagonally, would have been cut into segments.

I like to cook, I like to eat good food BUT I too can be a grubby food scutter.

On the Dairylea thing, I can quite happily eat a pack of those bullshit snack pack things they do with the crackers, cheese and ham. Lunchables?

My worst scut eat though... Pepperamis and, get this, my favourite bit is the plastic condom sheath thing. I basically suck all the flavour off of it. Like a mad person.

Oddly, yesterday I was in the mood for an Aldi pizza (I've had a very tough couple of weeks at work and my brain is addled). That's as basic bitch as it gets. That said, I do elevate the flavour with some paprika, chilli powder and flaky salt. But even so, super scutty.

Whatever it is, if you do know what it is, probably don't look it up at work then either.

Cool, yeah, me too, we should be friends based on our similar snacking preferences. There's a very similar thing here but with a bit of vegemite flavour mixed through the cheese, I enjoy those but only three biscuits is a bit stingy, and yet eating two packets seems extravagant.




Oh. We can never be friends.

It is odd though as the plastic wrap thing has like three times the flavour of the actual meat stick. But yeah, it's a bad habit that I've had since I was a kid.

A few years back Peperami did their own jerky and that was great. You can't get it now though.
