Normally, I could tell you, and it was warm this morning. So I travelled to the airport in shorts and t-shirt, thinking "yes, it's cooler, but how much cooler can Ireland be?"

16, feels like 11, that's how much. It's quite the shift from Tuesday's warmth.

We're still having low 20s in the Worcester area but it's dry (despite a couple of bouts of torrential rain this morning) so it feels cold.

I only became aware of the Oxford Clarion near the end of last year, so didn't catch their visit to Clarkson's inheritance tax dodge farm in March 2023.

Superb writing, and hopefully the pictures of snow will cool you down.

A friend said he was going to the Alanis Morrisette concert at the O2.
I replied asking if everyone in the audience has to bring a spoon.

She was due to play at Lytham Prom this year but it was cancelled due to rain.

And who would have thought?

Jagged Little Pill is still the biggest-selling debut album ever, I believe.

I remember riding bikes to the Worcester Park library with my mate, so that he could borrow this on tape and then make a copy of it.

This makes me feel old, and some of those aren't even really things anymore (that library, borrowing tapes, copying tapes, tapes in general, have't spoken to him in over 20 years)

Isn't that lovely?

Yesterday evening, I was adjusting the sheet on my bed (I am a very restless sleeper, and often disturb the sheet in the night) and I pushed it under my pillows so that I could tuck under the top of the bed, as I did so, I felt a sharp pain in my middle finger on my left hand, initially I thought it was maybe friction or that I had snagged a hair on something, and it had been pulled, and I then I wondered if I had scrapped it on something hard.

There was no cut on my hand, but when I looked under the pillow there was a bee just lazily crawling around as if it had no cares in the world. So I must have been stung, but the bee was happily doing it's thing and didn't seem disturbed, meanwhile my finger is starting to feel like I was cut by a knife between the top two knuckles. any way I grab a cup and a piece of card, capture the bee and release it out of the window. At these point I'm starting to wonder why it's not dead, I tough bee stings, stuck in the animal that has been stung, and ripped out the innards of the bee, quickly killing it, this bee merrily flew away without a care in the world.

So the pain slowly faded away and after about 20 minutes there were no signs of any sting, no pain, no marks, no swelling.

Jump cut to this morning, and my tendons behind that finger and the ring finger are feeling sore, like really bad RSI or if your fingers were pulled back the wrong way, I didn't think anything of it, and then my wife asked me if that was finger that was stung yesterday.

Comparing that hand to the other hand, there is some swelling and redness on my left hand compared to the right hand. So I imagine the bee venom is being dealt with by my immune system and I'm just noticing it more because it is right on the joint of the finger.

Anyway, the pain is just about cope able with at the moment, but if it gets worse I may need to reassess.

turns out it's infected and I am on some antibiotics now (4 times a day for 5 days)

My left hand is noticeably larger and redder than my right and my whole arm feels stiff (like after a bad reaction to a vaccination jab)

Even though it's my middle finger that was stung and looks the worst, I can't take my wedding ring off at the moment due to the swelling.

We will see if I start buzzing and developing super powers over the next few days I guess

Too late this time, but generally if you ever get stunk idle bitten in the hand or arm, take any rings off your finger(s) and put them away for a few days.

Russell reacts badly to horse flies. He was stung in the arm last year and his hand and arm swelled up massively, and his finger swelled around his wedding ring.

I eventually managed to take it off using the trick with some embroidery thread, but Russell was almost crying in pain,

I was having a bath once when a wasp landed on my wet chest and must have not liked it, because it stung me.

My reaction was to flick it away, and it ended up in the water kind of still moving around so I scooped it up out of the bath water, flung it into the toilet and then pissed on it. I was furious.

I have a feeling that the right (or wrong) pressure would be enough to poke the stinger into your skin and squeeze venom out of the little sac like bit, so yeah if you were unlucky tou could get a sting from a dead one.
